Six Sessions

This course is offered online via the easy-to-use Zoom program.

This winter we'll screen five films from American auteurs. French cinephiles defined the term auteur in the late ‘50s and a number of Americans fit this definition.  We’ll screen five films over Zoom from five auteurs: Jim Jarmusch, Wes Anderson, Noah Baumbach, Sofia Coppola, and Greta Gerwig. We will discuss the films and the artists that created them. There will be quizzes with prizes every week.

The films are:

Jan 19: Night on Earth, part one- Jim Jarmusch

Jan 26: Night on Earth, part two- Jim Jarmusch

Feb 2:  Moonrise KingdomWes Anderson

Feb 9: Frances HaNoah Baumbach

Feb 16: Lost in Translation- Sofia Coppola

Feb 23: Lady BirdGreta Gerwig
