In this course we will explore our own human place in the world by reflecting on the relationship of literature to nature.  Within this relationship we will consider different types of texts, from poetry to nature writing, essays to fiction.  This will provide us the space and language to think about different themes, including a changing climate, environmental justice, indigenous understandings of nature, and the evolution of our own scientific understandings.

One class may take place in an old growth forest.

Dr. Amy Whitworth has 30 years-experience teaching philosophy and ethics. She earned her BA in philosophy from the University of Texas at Austin and her MA and PhD in philosophy from Marquette University.
