W107 | First to Final Draft II: The Writers Group | Wednesday - 3:30 - 5:00 p.m. Zoom Closed - at capacity |
At our last "First to Final Draft" session, we review the next steps for your stories; editing, identifying publication resources, preparing for distribution and handling both rejection and acceptance. We also discuss writers' groups. What are these? How you find one? How you start one? How are they organized? In "First to Final Draft: Part II", we will create a model writers' group to answer these questions. Participants should expect to read weekly and to critique each other's work. By the end of the term, participants may want to continue to work together or to initiate a group of their own. Either way, they will have the skills and knowledge to organize a productive writer’s group. Lou-Ellen Barkan retired after careers on Wall Street, in New York City government and as a not-for-profit CEO. She holds a BA, Summa Cum Laude from Hunter College and an MA from Columbia University/Teacher's College. She writes for her own pleasure and, hopefully, for others. A sample of her published stories can be found here. |
