Let's probe the rich holdings of art housed at the Clark Art Institute in Williamstown by two of America's most revered artists, Winslow Homer and John Singer Sargent. We'll explore the full range of Homer's art, from early to late, from powerful oils to masterful watercolors, from wood engravings to etchings, in the galleries and print room. Sargent's vision - his portraits and more personal efforts, all early works - will be more limited because of the nature of the collection, but still revealing and rewarding. The course will have five sessions, all in person at The Clark in Williamstown. The Clark has kindly waived admission fees for our students.

Jock Brooks holds degrees from Princeton and Columbia and worked at the National Gallery of Art before coming to The Clark where he served as Associate Director. He is now retired. He also wrote the first guidebook to The Clark Art Institute.
