Four Sessions
Each week will feature guest speakers in conversation with Dr. Tom Gerety.
Dr. Gerety taught constitutional law through most of his career. He retired as Collegiate Professor of law and humanities at NYU. He headed up the Brennan Center for Justice and was president of both Trinity and Amherst Colleges. He has law and philosophy degrees from Yale.
Sessions and speakers include:
“The Red State Legislatures,” with Sekou Franklin, Tennessee scholar and activist at Middle Tennessee State University, expert on southern and Black politics.
“The Suppression of Choice and the Return of Reproductive Tyranny,” with Liz Schneider, feminist law professor at Brooklyn Law School and Carrie Baker, Smith College's chair in American Studies and a committed scholar in women and gender studies.
“The Lies of Originalism and the New Era of Gun Violence,” with anti-gun activists from Body Count and Cardozo law professor David Rudenstine.
“Trumpism and the Risks of An Authoritarian America,” with Lawrence Douglas, author of Will He Go? and legal scholar, political commentator, and novelist at Amherst College.
