In the Berkshires, several of the lower peaks have rocky knolls called 'cobbles'. In this course, we will hike six Berkshire cobbles from south to north. We will begin at Bartholomew's Cobble in Sheffield and finish on Pine Cobble in Williamstown. While experiencing beautiful views, we will hike along sections of the Appalachian Trail. Along the way participants will hike on trails maintained by the Trustees of Reservations, Berkshire Natural Resources Council, and the Williamstown Rural Lands organization. Sections of these trails are steep and rocky. All participants should plan to use hiking poles, either their own or poles provided by BNRC.

John and Kate Kidd are experienced Berkshire hikers. This will be their third OLLI hiking class. John is an active volunteer with the Berkshire Natural Resources Council helping to lead Spanish language hikes and serving as a trail steward. Kate is chair of OLLI's curriculum council and teaches courses related to history and global affairs.
