Join us as we hike through old growth forests, a boreal forest, and on trails where we will see wolf trees. In this course we will experience the beauty and majesty of these forests and venerable trees that are here in western Massachusetts. We will learn the characteristics of old growth forests and read and reflect on their importance, about the role of wolf trees, and we will explore our boreal forest in the Berkshires. Short readings will be provided each week. Five hikes are moderate with one hike being more strenuous. The order of the hikes may change due to weather. Hiking poles are recommended.
Amy Whitworth is an avid hiker, a lover of nature, and passionate about old growth forests and venerable trees. She designed her own pilgrimage of old growth forests and has visited many in the United States. |
