T103 | Shakespeare's Macbeth | Ann Berman Tuesdays - 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. In-person at Berkshire Community College |
Macbeth is a taut thriller, combining all-too-human ingredients of loyalty, ambition, love, and honor with a dollop of the supernatural. What would you do if the witches spoke to you? You probably read it in high school—now you can view it from another perspective. Join us as we work through the text one act at a time and discuss ways in which the play can be brought to life. The class will be supplemented by video clips of various productions. Macbeth will be performed at Shakespeare and Company in Lenox on March 15 and 22. If course participants are interested in seeing a production—attendance is not required - this is a chance to get reacquainted with the play. Suggested Reading: Any copy of the play is fine, but the Folger Library edition is the one that will be used in class if you want to have the same pagination and line numbers. Ann Berman is a life-long student and teacher with degrees in English, Education and Shakespeare Studies. She is especially interested in how text on the page is transformed into productions on stage. |
