International Folk Dancing is fun, aerobic, involves the memory, and exposes us to new rhythms, music and patterns. This variety of sounds and cultures clearly expands our knowledge of the world. No partners are necessary, since most dances are circle or line dances. Men and women all enjoy folk dancing!

Elaine Sohn has been leading a recreational folk dance group in Brooklyn Heights for many years, and several years ago began offering a class at the Brooklyn College LifeLong Learning Program. In addition, she has taught Israeli folk dance at many synagogues and universities. Ms. Sohn is the founder of the Brooklyn Heights International Folk Dance Group and holds an MS from Columbia University in English as a Second Language.
