This course will be offered online via the free, easy-to-use Zoom program.
In this course we will screen 5 movies from great directors, each movie under 90 minutes. We’ll discuss why they are considered outstanding and how the director limited the length of the movie. Naturally there will be questions with prizes after each movie.

July 23:High Noon (1952)-Zinnemann
July 30:Breathless (1960)-Godard
August 6:Stand by Me (1986)-Reiner
August 13: The Squid and the Whale (2005)-Baumbach
August 20: Open discussion on the course and suggested viewings
Howard Arkans holds a BA and MD from Stanford University. Currently retired, Howard is an OLLI past president. This is his twelfth year of teaching about and sharing films.
