OLLI Diversity Statement

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Berkshire Community College (OLLI at BCC) strives to create a community of learners accessible to all, where equity, inclusion, and diversity are truly valued.  OLLI is dedicated to providing an environment that welcomes all, regardless of race, ethnicity, color, creed, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, physical or mental capability, educational and/or socio-economic background, or national origin.

Increasing the diversity of OLLI programs, instructors, membership, committees and leadership is a goal we set for ourselves.  We do this, in part, by expanding our understanding and awareness of how racism and other forms of discrimination continue to operate within society.  While we may encounter challenges along the way, OLLI at BCC is committed to learning from them and continuing to move forward towards a more diverse and equitable community.

This vitally important work is lifelong.  We invite all OLLI members to join in this endeavor, through self-education and reflection, supported by OLLI’s efforts to promote positive change in our organization and the community-at-large.
