W106 | Looking at Art: Many Perspectives | Jock Brooks

Wednesdays 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. | Five Sessions - 9/18, 9/25, 10/2, 10/16, 10/23 (no class on 10/9)

In-person at The Clark, Williamstown
Limit: 20

In this course we contemplate and appreciate the art at the Clark Art Institute from different perspectives, some creative, some historical, some technical, and many personal. Each meeting will explore a different point of view to give us more options for looking at and appreciating the art and artists at the Clark, from Piero (15th c.) to Renoir (19th c.).

The sessions will all be in person at the Clark Art Institute in Williamstown. The Clark, as one of OLLI’s partners, will kindly waive the entrance fee for our classes.

The schedule will be:

  • Sept. 18 An Artist’s Perspective (John McDonald)
  • Sept. 25 A Child’s Perspective
  • Oct. 2  A Conservator’s Perspective (at the Williamstown Conservation Lab)
  • Oct. 16 An Art Historian’s Perspective
  • Oct. 23 Personal Perspectives

Jock Brooks, is the retired Associate Director of the Clark Art Institute and author of the first guidebook to the Clark, with degrees from Princeton and Columbia.
