Bicycling on rail-trails in our region is both safe and beautiful. We will do five weekly No-Rider-Left-Behind rides with short (10 mile) and long (20+ mile) options each week. Rides will generally be from 1-3 p.m. on Thursdays at a minimum average pace of 10-12 MPH. This is a great way to get back on your bike for the first time in years or for more experienced riders to get back in shape for the upcoming riding season.

  • April 30 – Ashuwillticook Rail Trail, Crane Avenue Parking lot where a bike mechanic will offer bike tune-ups and a short shakedown ride

  • May 7 – Ashuwillticook Rail Trail, Lanesboro trailhead – 24 miles (or less) out and back

  • May 14 – Harlem Valley Rail Trail, Black Grovery Road trailhead (1 ½ miles south of Hillsdale) – 20+ miles (or less) out and back

  • May 21 – Albany Hudson Electric Trail, Nassau trailhead – 22 mile (or less) round trip to Kinderhook

  • May 28 – Albany Hudson Electric Trail, Kinderhook U.S. Highway 9 trailhead – 18 mile (or less) round trip to Stottville

Riders choosing to do shorter routes MUST be accompanied back to the starting point by a ride leader. All trails are paved but the Harlem Valley Rail Trail includes a short section of hard packed gravel road. All types of bikes are suitable including Class 1 and 2 electric bikes.

Larry Bennett was a commuter rider in Wichita, Kansas for over 40 years where he also led a bicycling group called the Radio Flyers that was associated with the local NPR station.

Michael Hohn led several biking groups around Portland, Oregon and has custom built several bikes for himself and his wife, Sara, who will be assisting on all of our rides.
