How to Use Zoom to Access OLLI's Online Courses

To keep our members connected and engaged, OLLI is offering its spring 2020 classes online via the free, easy-to-use Zoom video conferencing program.

You can join a Zoom meeting using just about any internet connected device,  including computers (Windows or Mac), tablets, or smartphones (iPhone or Android). Many people really like Zoom because it is so easy to use.

Click here to check out this brief video provided by Zoom on the steps for joining a Zoom class or meeting online.

And here's our own PowerPoint on Zoom shortcuts:

Here are some quick facts to help you join a Zoom class:

  • Click the class link (it will be emailed to you after registration) shortly before the scheduled start time.
  • If it's your first time using Zoom, the Zoom program will download automatically.
  • When asked, enter your name as you wish to be shown.

We strongly recommend trying Zoom out at least once before attending your first class. We will be emailing out invitations to OLLI members to attend practice sessions on Zoom, please join us!

If you don't have internet access or your area's connection is weak, you can also call in from a landline or mobile phone by calling (415) 762-9988 or (646) 568-7788.  Follow the verbal instructions, then enter the meeting ID that will be sent to you and press #.  You may be asked for a Participant ID as well—simply press #. Note that if you call in you will only be able to access audio.
