F106 | Winter Hiking in the Berkshires Friday | Katherine Kidd, Wendy Donovan, Nancy Seguin Fridays - 1:30 p.m. |
Consider putting on your micro spikes, your waterproof boots, layer up, grab your poles, and join us on the trail this winter. While winter hiking, you may discover new features of familiar trails - the magic of a frozen stream, evidence of animals you've never seen, vistas unimagined when the leaves are in, and a profound quiet when the snow blankets the ground. We will hike easy to moderate trails in central and south county. If there is enough snow to strap on snowshoes, we will adjust chosen trails. We can provide snowshoes, poles and micro spikes for participants who don't have them. Welcome the winter and meet new friends on the trail. Kate Kidd, Wendy Donovan, and Nancy Seguin are experienced all-season Berkshire hikers and hiking leaders for OLLI at BCC. Nancy has led hikes for OLLI at BCC, Berkshire Camino, and The Mount in Lenox. Wendy rediscovered trails in the Berkshires after careers in nursing and education. She regularly leads hikes for BNRC and OLLI. Kate Kidd has been leading OLLI at BCC hikes for three years and welcomes the chance to experience the Berkshires in every season. They will share knowledge of geology, historic land use, and flora and fauna gained through the OLLI Berkshire Naturalist course from previous semesters. |
