This class will use some of the greatest discoveries of archaeology to explore the history and development of archaeology. These will include the discovering the Tomb of Tutankhamun, Troy, Mycenae, Knossos, and the development of early humans and their migration. We will examine the role of technology in locating and dating sites as well as the importance of excavation techniques, pottery dating, and other critical inputs. We will also touch on maritime archaeology. The instructor will draw on personal experiences to a small extent.

Richard Eason is a retired U.S. Foreign Service Officer with 32-years of experience, most of it in nine countries overseas. He holds a Bachelors degree in Archaeology and Master’s degrees in International Affairs and International Security and Defense.
