This course is offered online via the easy-to-use Zoom program.
Six different ‘hot topics’ will be addressed by presenters with expert knowledge about these issues. A lively Q & A and spirited exploration of these topics will ensue. The topics and speakers are:

October 13: Tom Gerety, former director of the Brennan Center for Justice at NYU and Yael Bromberg, Chief Counsel on Voting Rights for the Andrew Goodman Foundation: Voter Suppression
October 20: former TIME magazine editor Don Morrison and MCLA Professor Shawn McIntosh: The Press: Who Can We Trust and How Do We Know?
October 27: Attorney Doug Mishkin and housing rights organizer Rose Webster-Smith: Protests as a Path to Change
Moderator Will Singleton holds an MA from Georgetown University and an Ed.D. from New York University. He retired as Superintendent of Schools in Roosevelt, NY after a long career in education. Upon his return to Pittsfield, where he grew up, he worked to reinvigorate the Berkshire Branch of the NAACP. He has had a life-long interest in Asian martial arts, earning a black belt in karate at the age of 60. He serves on the OLLI at BCC Board of Directors, the Social Science Curriculum Committee and the University Day Committee.
