This year, Tanglewood is back with a modified season, but it is back!  Jeremy Yudkin, Professor of Music and Director of the Center for Beethoven Research at Boston University, will guide us through the highlights of this coming Tanglewood season’s music.  Sprinkled among some of the enduring favorites of the classical canon (Beethoven, Brahms, Mendelssohn, Schumann, Tchaikovsky) will be a light seasoning of short, exciting new works by young composers, creating a menu of irresistible attraction.  Join us as Jeremy anticipates a special Tanglewood season, a little shorter, but oh so sweet!

Jeremy Yudkin is Professor of Music and Co-Director of the Center for Beethoven Research at Boston University. He has served as Visiting Professor of Music at Oxford, Harvard, and the Sorbonne.  He is the author of ten books, including From Silence to Sound: Beethoven’s Beginnings (2020), which was nominated as one of the ten best reference books of the year by the American Library Association, and the recently published 550-page volume The New Beethoven.  He also researched and published the first-ever book on the The Lenox School of Jazz.

In addition to just completing his thirty-ninth straight year of presenting his pre-concert Tanglewood Talks at the Lenox Library, he has given hundreds of lectures across Europe, the United States, and Russia.  He has won numerous awards, including an Award for Excellence in Historical Research for his book Miles Davis, “Miles Smiles,” and the Invention of Post Bop (2008).  At Boston University, where he teaches courses on Beethoven, Bartók, Bob Dylan, and the Beatles – among many others – he has been nominated ten times for Metcalf Awards in Teaching and once as Provost’s Scholar-Teacher of the Year.

Admission is $10 for OLLI at BCC and Berkshire Museum members, and $15 for the general public.  Admission is free for Berkshire Community College students, youth 17 and under, and those holding WIC, EBT/SNAP, or ConnectorCare cards.

Pre-registration is required. Click here to register safely and securely online or call 413.236.2190 (M-F 9am-4pm) to register by phone with a credit card.
