Dr. Tom Gerety is a collegiate professor of law and humanities at New York University. He teaches and writes on constitutional law and political philosophy, with a special emphasis on such First Amendment freedoms as speech, privacy, and conscience. He wrote and narrated a PBS series, Visions of the Constitution, with Judy Woodruff, and is the author of a book of essays on the liberal arts, The Freshman Who Hated Socrates.
Dr. Gerety served as President of Amherst College from 1994 to 2003 and of Trinity College from 1989 to 1994. From 1986 to 1989 he was Dean and Nippert Professor at the College of Law of the University of Cincinnati. He holds degrees in law and philosophy from Yale University.
Advance tickets are available online here or by calling 413.236.2190 until Friday, May 10 at 12 noon. After that time tickets will be available at the door on a space available basis. Admission is $10 for OLLI at BCC and Berkshire Museum members, and $15 for the general public. Admission is free to Berkshire Community College students and youth 17 and under.
