Masterpieces of Paris: Virtual Strolls through the Great Museums

OLLI at BCC Members: $35 Non-members: $45 This four-week online course is designed to virtually explore the great art collections of Paris. The course will span the development of western European art from the fourteenth century to the birth of modernism. Our visits will begin with the great treasures of the Louvre to look at Renaissance and Baroque masterpieces; we will then consider the works housed in the Petit Palais and consider the art made in the Paris of the Belle Époque with virtual strolls through the Musée Rodin and Musée Gustave Moreau. Finally, we will explore the great works of Impressionism and Post-Impressionism housed in the Musée d’Orsay. Aliki Braine is a brilliant art historian and engaging speaker that helps people expand their thinking around art, history and culture. Workshop participants say she is a source of inspiration and sets the tone for innovative thinking. Born in Paris, Aliki Braine studied at The Ruskin School of Fine Art, Oxford, The Slade School of Fine Art, London and The Courtauld Institute where she was awarded a distinction for her masters in 17th century painting. Aliki has been a regular lecturer at the National Gallery since 2001 and also teaches at the Wallace Collection, Courtauld Gallery, Christie’s London and The Arts Society. She is an author and Associate Lecturer in the Department of Fine Art Photography for the University of the Arts London. Aliki is also a practicing artist who regularly exhibits her photographic work internationally.
