Tom Gerety on:
ICE and the Constitution: Pushing Back Against Assaults On American Freedom
Thursday, January 15 at 7:00 p.m. ET
We all face newly urgent questions about the powers of masked and often brutal federal immigration forces after the killing of Renée Good in Minneapolis. Tom Gerety will lead an open discussion of the constitutional law implicated by the Good case — the use of force by federal agents, the conflict between state and federal law in the investigations, and the implications for our freedoms of the militarization of immigration enforcement.
This will be an open session in which we hope that many of you will participate with comments and concerns.
Tom Gerety taught constitutional law through most of his career. He retired as Collegiate Professor of law and humanities at NYU. He headed up the Brennan Center for Justice and was president of both Trinity and Amherst Colleges. He has law and philosophy degrees from Yale.
Free and open to all, but pre-registration is required.
