Join the Berkshire OLLI Play Reading Shared Interest Group!

We meet twice a month to read aloud from scripts of classic and contemporary plays.  Each participant is encouraged to read a character and join in the discussion.  In the summer and fall, we read plays that are showing at local theaters.  We welcome suggestions as to which plays to read and are looking for volunteers to facilitate our sessions.  We mostly meet on Zoom but will have some in-person sessions in the summer.

Our Winter 2026 Schedule  

All meetings are on Zoom on Fridays, 3-5 pm

Jan. 16 & Jan. 23:  Desire Under the Elms by Eugene O’Neill.  A 1924 classic tragedy about a love triangle between a domineering father, his much younger new bride, and his son.

Feb. 13 & Feb. 27:  Marjorie Prime by Jordan Harrison.  A contemporary play (now on Broadway) about an older woman whose memory is fading.  She turns to an AI-powered “companion” for help.

Mar. 13 & 27:  Le Cid by Pierre Corneille (in English translation).  A 17^th century French tragicomedy that explores the tension between love and duty, personal feelings and social obligations.

Apr. 10 & 24:  Arms and the Man by Bernard Shaw.  An 1894 comedy and love story that satirizes romantic notions concerning war.
