An Introduction to The Taming of the Shrew
with Ann Berman
Friday, August 15 3:30 - 5:00 p.m.
In-person only at Shakespeare & Company, Lenox
Free and open to the public, registration required
OLLI member and instructor and Shakespeare scholar Ann Berman presents an introduction to The Taming of the Shrew.
Is the play a light-hearted romantic romp? A scathing satire of the power dynamics between men and women? Or a hot mess that starts out as a prank and ends up with the audience saying, “What just happened?” An overview of the plot, previous and current criticism of the play, and discussion of some of the considerations that influence this specific Shakespeare & Company production will all be covered.
Come to this pre-performance talk, then check out the onsite food truck or bring your own supper to Shakespeare & Company’s beautiful campus and stay for the evening’s performance at 7:00.
Tickets for The Taming of the Shrew are available through the Shakespeare & Company box office at Shakespeare.org. Berkshire residents get 40% off the ticket price. Not a county resident? You can get a 10% discount as this is a preview performance. (Only one discount can apply.)
