Session 1 Friday May 9 at 10:00 a.m. Berkshire Community College, Pittsfield, MA: Painters of the Hudson River School brought to the public a uniquely American style of art with their realistic yet romanticized landscapes of a new nation. They portray places that through their influence we now preserve, recreate, and honor as national landmarks. As a primer on this American art movement, Skip Doyle will discuss the works and styles of the Hudson River School painters and their historical and geographical context with special reference to the Hudson River valley where the school’s earliest subjects were found.
Session 2 Friday May 16 at 10:00 a.m.Olana State Historical Site, Hudson, NY Field trip to Olana – home of Frederick Church.
Cost: $40 for OLLI at BCC members $45 for non-members Cost includes entrance ticket to Olana. BYO lunch and drinks.
Attendees must provide their own transportation to Olana State Historical Site.
