A rose by any other name is still a Rose and so “Sicels” is Sicily!

Join professional fine art photographer and OLLI instructor Thad Kubis and for a 60-minute, visual, photographic exploration and discussion of the less traveled western coast of Sicily.

This event will be recorded and posted to OLLI at BCC's YouTube Channel.

According to the 2025 BBC travel trends report, Sicily meets 4 of 7 requirements of 2025 travel. I will explain in some detail each of the four points listed.

  1. Noctourism – nocturnal + tourism
  2. Calmcations
  3. The return of the holiday romance
  4. Off-the-beaten-track goes mainstream

We start our tour in Palermo, virtually drive on the western coast road to the Golfo of Castellammare. Once we have arrived, we will celebrate with a virtual glass of wine and venture to Capo San Vito. Next stop Trapani, we board a virtual sailboat visiting Levanzo, an island located in the Tyrrhenian Sea. We return to the western coast to Marsala, visiting the famous Salt Ponds and much more.

Finally, Thad will close the presentation with our return trip to Palermo.

Register today for this hybrid presentation, joining Thad in person or online and begin your romance with the historical, magical and mysterious Island of “Sicily” – A Photographer’s view.
