Meet at the Thomas Cole National Historic Site where Ralph Pearson and a staff interpreter will give short orientation to the site and context on Cole’s life and work.
Tickets through OLLI also include an excellent guidebook for each participant, useful for the self-guided tour and as a source of much varied information about the people and history of the site. A coordinating interpreter also provides a dedicated orientation for OLLI.
Thomas Cole (1801-1848) was an American artist and early environmentalist. He was the founder of the influential art movement known today as the Hudson River School of American landscape painting.
There will be time to explore the studios and exhibitions on your own. Interpreters are available at each location to answer questions.
