The OLLI Distinguished Speakers Series presents
Ilan Stavans:A Brief History of Love
Monday, February 12, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. ET
Online via Zoom
Who invented love? Does every culture understand it identically? How many varieties of love are there? Is love experienced differently at various stages of life? Internationally-renowned scholar Ilan Stavans surveys the permutations of what Robert Frost called "the irresistible desire to be irresistibly desired."
Ilan Stavans is the Lewis-Sebring Professor of Humanities, Latin American and Latino Culture at Amherst College, the publisher of Restless Books, and a consultant to the Oxford English Dictionary. His latest book is The People's Tongue: Americans and the English Language (2023).
