This presentation by Amy Meltzer will provide practical examples, links to helpful resources, and inspiring photos. We'll also gain insights about evolutionary history among native plants, insects, birds and fungi as well as the interdependent relationships among diverse species necessary for their survival.
This event provides relevant background for the forthcoming Berkshire Community College Plan for Climate Resilience and Pollinators. Plan development is currently underway with collaboration among BCC, OLLI, Housatonic Heritage and the Conway School Graduate Program in Sustainable Planning + Design.
Amy Meltzer is an active member of Grow Native Massachusetts and the Mass Pollinator Network. She is on both the Research Team and the Natural Solutions Working Group of Elders Climate Action. With a doctorate in psychology, Amy has retired from her psychotherapy practice and has been researching and gardening with native plants for over ten years. Amy gardens at her homes in Cambridge and in the foothills of the Berkshires.
