Join us for another fascinating discussion in OLLI's 2018 Distinguished Speakers Series. Jeremy Yudkin, professor of music at Boston University and a favorite lecturer in the Berkshires, will discuss the 100th anniversary of Leonard Bernstein's birth as only someone of his breadth and erudition can do!

Leonard Bernstein is one of the legendary figures of American music.  He was a multi-talented genius, gifted as a pianist, composer, and conductor.  He was also a teacher, social activist, lecturer, and writer.  He lived many lives during his 72 years. Professor Yudkin will outline Bernstein's multiple contributions throughout his life and will highlight musical examples from "West Side Story," "Candide," "The Chichester Psalms," "Mass" and many other works.

Jeremy Yudkin is Professor of Music and co-Director of the Center for Beethoven Research at Boston University, and his interests are wide and varied, including everything from medieval music to the music of the Beatles. Jeremy has written 8 books: on medieval music and manuscripts, on a sixteenth-century music primer, and on jazz. Helping all people understand music is one of his greatest passions. He is a compelling, lively, and friendly speaker.

Admission is $10 for OLLI at BCC and Berkshire Museum members, and $15 for the general public. Admission is free to Berkshire Community College students and youth 17 and under.
