The OLLI Distinguished Speakers Series presentsDr. Robert Gruber:
The Ethics of Collective Action
Tuesday, April 11 at 7:00 p.m. EST
Online via Zoom
The effects of climate change are made worse by the actions of a large group of people. It may seem like an individual's contributions do not make a difference. Does an individual still have a moral reason to reduce their personal greenhouse gas emissions?
Robert Gruber is Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Springfield College where he teaches courses primarily in ethics (especially environmental ethics), the meaning of life, and the philosophy of sport. He did his PhD graduate work at UMass Amherst, where his dissertation research focused on the ethics of collective action problems. Currently he is doing work in animal ethics.
Admission is $10 for OLLI at BCC and Berkshire Museum members, and $15 for the general public. Admission is free for Berkshire Community College students, youth 17 and under, and those holding WIC, EBT/SNAP, or ConnectorCare cards.
Pre-registration is required. Register safely and securely online or call 413.236.2190 (M-F 9am-4pm) to register by phone with a credit card.
